We view the effects of sin as something abstract. Somewhere "up there" is Shomyaim it does damage but it doesn't really affect us here. That is why we sin so much:-).
But we have to know that every sin we do creates havoc in our soul and is recognizable to those with pure holy eyes in every aspect of our being - our facial expressions, movements, body language, speech, handwriting [I know a graphologist who can look at someone's handwriting and tell with certainty if they look at inappropriate things on the Internet - and many other things, with about 100 percent accuracy. I was once involved in a shidduch where the graphologist saw very negative characteristics in the boy's personality but alas the parents (and rabbis who assailed me) ignored my warnings and told their daughter to marry him anyway. Bad move. Maybe more on graphology in a future post] etc. etc. Every part of us screams [again - to those who have spiritual eyes] the sins we do. We can change everything with teshuva.
