Everybody and their Aunt Matilda knows that the Ben Sorer Umoreh is killed not because of what he actually did [ate and a certain amount of stolen meat and wine with some bad chevre] but because of what it will lead to his becoming a bandit [Sanhedrin 72a] !! He is killed על שם סופו.
But the Rambam OMITS the whole concept of על שם סופו and just says that he is executed because of his ["disgusting"] eating and drinking.
WOW!!! הלא דבר הוא!!
So what is going on? What didn't the Rambam like about the gemara's explanation??
