Tefilla And Good Deeds

לֹא יִתְיַצְּבוּ הוֹלְלִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינֶיךָ שָׂנֵאתָ כָּל פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן.

The holelim ["those who praise". Some render "boisterous" or "mixed up"] shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. [Tehillim 5/6]

When the evil praise you [הילול] it is all הוללות [levity]. They are just using you to get what they want. They won't stand before you. You don't want to see  them. They also don't understand  the importance of also acting properly. You can hear a lot of talk about "G-d", "prayer" and "spirituality" but when it comes to the day to day of morality, people are riddled with faults and indiscretions. You hate the evil doers. Prayer without good deeds is not what You want.

Klal Yisrael understands the importance of praising in a sincere way and also perfecting their deeds and character. [Sometimes we follow the Goyim and have to be careful about that].
