Rav Avraham Gemechovski was once in a situation where there was a concern that he would lose a considerable amount of money. People saw that he was deeply concerned.
He explained that he was bothered by the following question: If a person becomes a Shoteh after the gmar din of Beis Din, is punishment still carried out?
On one hand - at the time of gmar din he was a Bar Daas while on the other hand he no longer is and so how can we punish a Shoteh?!
He felt better when he discovered that this question was the subject of a machlokes between the Munkatcher Rebbe [may punish] and the Rogochover Gaon [may not for the punishment is also called din].
