Rav Yakov Landa [Rav of Bnei Brak] related that HaRav Shmuel Vosner ztz"l [one of the greatst poskim of our generation] studied the intricate details of the use of electricity on Shabbos [in Eretz Yisrael]. He concluded that it is permitted.

Nevertheless, for over seventy years HE NEVER USED ELECTRICITY ON SHABBOS both in his home and in his yeshiva [he used a generator instead as is the custom in Bnei Brak] as a show of respect to the Chazon Ish who forbade it's use.
