Money Part 2: You Can't Take It With You - Socks In The Grave - Visa Expiration

Today I am going to visit a friend at my future residence. I refer to the cemetery. Ahhhhhhhhh!! This world is a tough place. Nobody gets out alive.

Reminds me of famous story. A very wealthy man was about to die and he gave two envelopes to his children. One they were to open immediately after his death and the other after the shiva.

How mysterious.

After he died, the children opened up the first envelope and saw that he wrote that they must bury him with his socks. OK. They went to the Chevre Kadisha and told them that their father must be buried with his socks. The Chevre Kadisha vehemently refused. The children insisted but the Chevre Kadish didn't relent. Halacha is halacha and no socks!

So they buried him sock-less.

After the shiva they opened up the second envelope and it said "So you see. You can't even take your socks with you......"

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:-)

Dovid Hamelech said it best [tehillim 49]  כי לא במותו יקח הכל לא ירד אחריו כבודו - You can't take it with you. You go down into the grave with nothing.

So sweetest friends - while you have it, do good things with it. We are all here on a limited visa and we don't know when it expires. In this world with ONE DOLLAR we can get eternity. Once we are gone it is OVVVERRRRRRRRR.

Gitte, langa, zisse, yoren  - Good, long, sweet years to all:-).
