Don't Bring The Goy Home

Tonight is the yahrtzeit of the father of the Tolna dynasty, Reb Dovid'l Twersky ztz"l [died 1882] the son of Reb Mottel of Chernobol [who had 8 children who all became rebbes. Chernobol, Skver, Rachamestrivska and others emanated from him] . There are many beautiful stories about him. Here is one.

Before the yomim tovim the chasidim used to come to spend Yom Tov with the Rebbe. There was a certain wealthy chossid who didn't travel with the masses because he could afford a private wagon driver. He hired this gentile to take him there and bring him back. After the Yom Tov he went to say goodbye to the Rebbe who asked him how he is returning home. He replied that the goy who brought him is taking him home.

"OY VEY", cried the Rebbe! "You are returning home with the same goy with whom you arrived??"

Meaning, that we all have a little bit of a goy inside of ourselves and upon seeing a tzaddik and celebrating a yom tov we should be cleansed of any "goyishkeit". Reb Dovid'l sensed that this person had not....

Here is another story.

There is a tisch tonight in Tolna to connect to his holy memory. Hope you can make it....
